Anointed
Women
By Marion Spellman
An Anointed woman - Proverbs says,
Is virtuous, skilled and admired.
But how then, one wonders, can she do all these things,
Always giving and not seemingly tired?
Let's open the Scriptures to begin our search.
In Genesis twenty-four: one
And read of Rebekah and Isaac...
Remember, that's Abraham's son.
How was it his servant instinctively knew
After seeing this girl at the well,
That she was the maiden to choose for a wife.
How is it the servant could tell?
Well, partially her manner and the way that she worked,
Which some people just might think odd.
She watered the camels while his servant looked on
Thinking... "I flat out believe she's from God."
And then there was Ruth who committed herself
To serving her mother-in-law.
She was faithful, devoted and loyal to her,
And Boaz understood what he saw.
It was largely the way she conducted herself,
A mere reaper who gleaned from his grain.
But he loved and he chose her to be his new wife
Thus the plan for Messiah to reign.
Now another anointed was Dorcas -
A lady who served those in need
By gathering scraps of material
For clothing - was one of her deeds.
She would give to those who had none -
Often people she never would see.
And highly the church still proclaims her
God's anointing again, is the key.
And Deborah's another to greatly admire
For her anointing, her strength and her will
Claiming and accepting her mandate
Attacking with courage and skill.
And one that can't be forgotten - all will quickly agree
Is Mary, the mother of Jesus,
A calling of highest degree.
Anointing is the power of the women we've seen
Available to you and to me.
There is no excuse to shrink from the task -
Our influence in this world must be seen.
The anointing of God is more precious,
More coveted than diamonds and pearls.
It's what we must always seek after.
It separates the called from the world.
As women we need this anointing,
This Holy Ghost power and might
To accomplish the Lord's great commission -
And to win the inevitable fight.
We can make a positive impact.
We can turn this whole world around.
Yes, it's learning with "Women To Women"
To live victorious, anointed and sound.
