Peniel

The abuse of drugs and alcohol is one of the greatest scourges of the modem world. It penetrates to the very fibre of our society. It is at the heart of the escalating problems with criminal violence. Its tentacles wrap themselves around spouses and children and devastate family life.

In the individual, when abuse becomes addiction, as it so often does, the behaviour is radically changed and the spirit is enslaved. The person gets beyond being able to help himself. At heart, it is a matter of spiritual bondage from which only God can bring true deliverance. That is where Peniel comes in.

For over 17 years Peniel has been rescuing those perishing in the prison of drug and alcohol addiction. Founded by Dr. Marion Spellman. Peniel has become one of the leading rehabilitation agencies in the country. Their unique approach, combining a work program with Scriptural instruction, has produced a number of remarkable success stories. Their cure rate (or it might be better termed, their "deliverance" rate) is one of the highest in the nation, including both secular and religious agencies. God has greatly anointed the programs and the personnel at PENIEL to do His work in this vital area of ministry.

It has been a privilege of mine through the years to he closely connected to Peniel. During that time I have seen them crow from a struggling infant ministry to the highly respected. Extremely fruitful ministry they are today. With their beautiful new campus in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Peniel offers facilities and services that are second to none. They are a strong arm of ministry of which the Church of God can be justly proud.

I am personally acquainted with a number of persons whose lives have been transformed by the power of God through Peniel. Many of those who came to Peniel as hopeless addicts are now successful pastors, evangelists and church leaders. I know from having worked closely with Peniel the dedication of those who serve in this ministry and also their total commitment to the conscientious use of financial resources. I can’t think of a better place to invest ministry monies.

If you have not visited the Peniel campus in Johnstown, you need to do that if you possibly can. You will be impressed by the beautiful facilities and by the efficient way in which ministry is conducted. If you haven’t been a part of Peniel through sharing your financial resources, I would urge von to do so. It is an investment that will pay great dividends.
