Circa 1991, I was blessed to preach a sermonette at Peniel Ministries. At the time Peniel was in Somerset, Pennsylvania, and I was an associate minister at Macedonia Interdenominational Church in Ellicott City, Maryland, under the pastorship of Rev. Evora Robinson-Burns, now deceased. Because you so kindly accepted the challenge of helping one of our parishioners, we got to come and serve and be served. Dr. Marion Spellman, you preached that evening about the woman with the cruse of oil and Elijah from I Kings 17:8-16. A handful of meal in the barrel, and a little oil in a cruse. Dr. Spellman, you preached that message about faith, perseverance, endurance, not giving up. I remember your fervor and joy in delivering that faith-filled message. You led those present in singing, "I'm Free, Praise The Lord, I'm Free. No longer bound, no more chains holding me..." I remember that like it was yesterday. Pastor Robinson-Burns and I, at that time I was Minister Carolyn Graves, ministered that afternoon. Thank GOD, we decided, no we were compelled to stay for the evening service. My GOD ALMIGHTY, what a blessing to hear that WORD from the LORD! Now, today, I am sitting here looking for a place to send my niece. GOD blessed me to find Peniel's website. I have printed out the application and some of the testimonials for my sister and niece. I am seeing what a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse mixed with faith, a song of praise, perseverance, endurance and the love of GOD can and will do. And a marvelous blessing to me, was that a young woman who was there those many years ago, that I ministered to before we departed, is now happily married to a young man who went through your program too. They are now living in Martinsburg, West Virginia. I know this because I went to preach at Destiny Baptist Church there, where my brother, Carl Que Hickerson is the pastor, and that young lady came up to me after the benediction. She remembered me and how GOD used me with her, from those many years ago. I remember that she had a little 15 month old daughter who she was just becoming re-acquainted with, and the daughter was, at the time I met this lady, 19. Glory to GOD! It was good to see her. I pray that GOD will multiply in the life of Peniel Ministries and your family's lives what HE has multiplied from that handful of meal in a barrel and little oil in a cruse more than a hundred fold. GOD's continued blessings be upon you and uours. In JESUS' name. Amen. I will exercise that faith and send Peniel a love donation very soon, by the grace of GOD. I believe it. So it is. Amen.

In memory of my brother, Danny Lewis Headden, Sr. deceased March 7, 2005. Danny struggled most of his life with alcohol/drug addiction. He was a wonderful person and a great brother. He died in a car wreck 8 months ago today 11-07-05. He was struggling with alcohol but he did have HOPE in JESUS but HE did know his JESUS CHRIST and I know this place such as PENIEL would be a great place for hurting people needing help to recover. GOD BLESS YOU! (In memory of DANNY LEWIS HEADDEN,SR. 08-29-54 - 03-07-05)

I am a 2000 graduate of Peniel and am still continuing to grow in the Lord. I am so thankful to Pastor & Dr. Spellman and their staff for the love they gave me when I was so broken. I was introduced to God at Peniel and set free from the destructive lifestyle. I will always consider Peniel to be my home and the Spellmans will always be my Mother & Father in the Lord.

I am so
grateful
for Peniel. I do attend the church and am proud of it. I thank God for the pastor and Dr. Spellman's vision. If she would not have followed up on her vision, my mother and I would not be where we are today! I love you all very much.

My son is a recovering addict. He is still participating in a Christian based program over seas. Praise God ! I was pleased to find your sight and to know that there is hope here in the states for those that want help with addiction. With God all things are possible. I can testify to that !!!

The Spellmans are my godparents and they are great people. They are both an inspiration to my father and will always be in my heart no matter how far apart we are. I look forward to seeing you both soon!Sheila Edwards

I was excited about Peniel Ministries when my pastor's wife, Delta Schrade introduced it to us by being involved through the purchase of a Kroger Card.
After visiting the website, I'm really glad that I decided to be involved with this great ministry. It is greatly needed. May you all be blessed.

Praise the Lord and God Bless you and the saints of the Peniel Praise Church. Certainly I honor the fine Pastor and First Lady of the church. I thank God for such a website as this to have that can turn somebody around and let them see the light of God. Continue to be strong in the Lord and I will be praying for this ministry.
