Marriage Seminar

Restoring broken lives is not limited only to the client enrolled at
Peniel. A crucial part of our mission is to help restore
residents’ marriages
that have been shattered as a result of drug and alcohol
abuse. At Peniel we offer marriage counseling and marriage seminars
specifically geared
to meet the needs of our residents and their spouses.
Pastor Harold & Dr. Marion Spellman have conducted numerous marriage
seminars at Peniel and other churches throughout the United States.
Their training with married couples in treatment and couples within
the local church has resulted in the wonderful restoration of numerous
marriages that were on the brink of divorce.

Mike & Lisa McAfee |
Today this same teaching to married couples is being successfully duplicated
through Mike and Lisa McAfee. In fact, their own marriage was one that
was added to the long list of those that had been rescued from certain
destruction through the Biblical principles taught by the Spellmans.
Mike and Lisa are strong leaders in the church. With the same dynamic
results received in their own marriage, they now share in at least one
seminar each year for our clients and their spouses.
For the man or woman receiving treatment at Peniel who has left a spouse
in the wake of his or her addiction, total restoration cannot be achieved
until these issues are addressed by both parties affected. By offering
family and marriage counseling and client-oriented marriage seminars,
we assist the couples in achieving the goal of restoration.
Our client-oriented marriage seminars are designed to help couples
address destructive behavior that is a result of their drug and/or alcohol
abuse. Foundational Biblical principles addressing marriage issues are
identified to help assist in establishing a strong Biblical foundation
in their home.
Some key principles that may be addressed in one of our marriage seminars
are forgiveness, communication skills, parenting, and financial planning.
Many of these basic skills have never been learned nor developed because
of one or both spouse’s addictive lifestyles. When drugs and alcohol
become the main focus in the addict’s life, marriage and family
responsibilities are ignored. Re-prioritizing responsibilities in the
home now becomes the main focus in the restoration process.
Many of our alumni return to attend our annual marriage seminars and
testify of the great restoration taking place in their lives and families.
Peniel also offers specifically tailored marriage seminars for the
church and community. If your church or organization is interested in
having the McAfees present a three day marriage seminar, please free
to contact us.
