Meet the Staff

Angelique Bernard

Angelique was born in Nassau Bahamas, to Oswald and Elaine Bernard. She has two older sisters and three younger brothers. In 1984, Angelique attended Lee University located in Cleveland, Tennessee. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with emphasis in Social Work in 1986.

After reading a book titled The Cross and the Switchblade, Angelique developed a growing burden for the addicted and hopeless lives of those who were not being reached by the Church. Subsequently, she spent a summer in Garrison, New York working at the Walter Hoving Home for girls, which is a branch of Teen Challenge. This growing burden for the addicted was again ignited after hearing Dr. Marion Spellman, Founding President and CEO of Peniel, who was an invited guest speaker on campus, talk about her program.

Upon graduating, Angelique joined the Peniel staff in September 1986 as an addictions counselor. She is still faithfully serving in her ministry after 21 years and continues to enjoy her work at Peniel.

Angelique has been invited as a guest speaker on numerous occasions to prayer Breakfasts, Women’s retreats, and church services in several states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland and Virginia as well as locations outside of the United States.

Angelique has attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work. In addition to working as an Addictions Counselor, Angelique is an Elder and faithful member of the Peniel Praise Community Church.
