I was raised in Southern West Virginia and blessed with a Christian home. My parent’s faith in God has been such a strong spiritual influence in my life. I am forever grateful for the love, prayer and support they so freely give.
During my senior year of high school I decided to run away from everything I was ever taught. The road I chose accelerated down the path of destruction. After graduation I set out for college to find myself. Where I found myself was lost, and in need of a Savior. It was the grace of God and the people he placed in my life to help me through and see that He was my only strength. God rescued me and when I gave my heart to Him is when my life truly began to fall into place.
May of 2006 I graduated from Bluefield State College with a B.A. in Social Science. After graduation I began to pray that God would open the door to work in ministry as a Drug/Alcohol counselor. Peniel was brought to my attention and I began to pray for guidance. While at a camp meeting in West Virginia I was privileged to talk to staff about the ministry. I sent my resume in and within days had received a call back. I came for a visit and knew this is where God was calling me to go.
I came to work at Peniel, October of 2006. I am being trained as a Counselor in the Clinical Department. The staff has been so compassionate and to learn from this professional team is such an honor. God has truly blessed me to be a part of this life changing ministry. My future plan is to enroll in graduate school and pursue a Master’s degree in counseling. |
