I
am from Charlotte, North Carolina. I was raised in church and
came to know Christ at a young age. In spite of many questions
about God and His existence, I never could escape the truth
that Christ died on the cross for me.
I was saved and called into a ministry of helping hurting people,
specifically those suffering from addictions, around the age of
14. After many struggles with this calling and my commitment to
Christ, I entered East Coast Bible College where I obtained my
Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education. During that time,
my commitment to Christ was strengthened, and I began to desire
a place of ministry.
Then I entered the Church of God Theological Seminary in Cleveland,
Tennessee. This was a truly unique and enriching experience. I
received much more than my Masters Degree in Counseling. While
in school, I completed an internship at a local halfway house
for drug addicts/alcoholics. This hands on experience let me know
that I was called to those bound by addictions.
Soon after graduation, I obtained employment in
a residential facility for mentally challenged
adults, and was promoted to Lead Residential Technician.
I eventually became restless, sensing that my future
involved professional drug/alcohol counseling.
A friend had given me a dated copy of The Evangel Magazine featuring
several articles about Peniel. I looked at it again and something
touched my heart this time. I sent in my resume. Dr. Spellman
promptly responded by scheduling an on-site interview. This interview
and visit to the facility assured me that this was indeed my place
of anointing within the Body of Christ. Indeed, it was confirmed
to me that God had called me to Peniel.
I now work in the midst of miracles daily. I see people come
in broken and hopeless. I have the privilege of working men and
women through a myriad of problems and consequences. But more
than that, God has also done a work in my life, including providing
me with the wonderful opportunity to minister to those bound by
addictions. Peniel is a wonderful place to see lives truly changed
forever.
