Meet the Staff

Larry Scott

I am a 55 year old male from Pittsburgh, PA. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, but spent 15 years in Washington D.C., where I met my current wife. We just celebrated our 25th Anniversary. We have two adult children.

I have been with PENIEL for about 19 years. I came here as a client, from jail, June 21, 1988. I was determined to change my life, which consisted of drugs, alcohol, and a life of crime. I instantly fell in love with the program and dedicated myself to change.

After successfully completing the program, I felt the Lord was directing me to stay at PENIEL. However, I was counseled to go home to see if I really was called to the ministry.

While at home, I would call the ministry everyday. I was excited because I knew I had a purpose to my life. After around two months, I came back as a staff trainee. While working at PENIEL, I have truly been blessed. My marriage, which had been destroyed, has been restored. My relationship with my children has been strengthened. I have received my associate’s degree in human services. Currently I am completing the necessary classes for my bachelor’s degree in human resources.

At Peniel, I serve as the dorm monitor for the evening shift. I observe the clients during their downtime. I pay close attention to who associates with whom, their conversations, their social skills, and how they spend their leisure time. I also escort them to their assigned scheduled activities.

I am currently an Elder in the Peniel Praise Community Church and President of the X-tra Milers, the men’s fellowship group of the church.
